Vincent Meessen (Baltimore, 1971) leads an artistic practice rooted in discourse and collaboration. From moving images to exhibition design by way of typography, his visual practice interrogates both method and form. He revisits signs, images and hidden facts, probing for contemporary effects made by the colonial matrix inherited from Western modernity. Vincent Meessen represented Belgium at the 56th Venice Biennale in 2015. Recently, he exhibited at Printemps de Septembre in Toulouse, WIELS in Brussels and at the Taipei Biennial, Taiwan. He is a member of Jubilee, a platform for research and artistic production based in Brussels.
